I love quotes! A How-To on going to war

Hey folks,

yesterday, when researching quotes for my democracy-article I found another rather intriguing quote from a not-at-all political correct source. (And one I know mentioning his name will boost my stats again *hehe*): Mr Hermann Goering, minister to a long-gone “1000 years” German “Reich”:

“Naturally the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

– H. Goering

Sometimes I think I have a clue where exactly in history to look for former US-President (George W. as well as George) Bush’s inspirations and historic mentors

Oh I just love historic quotes! And somehow I guess I’m into politically incorrect sources too:

“Don’t ever trust a statistic you haven’t forged yourself!”

– H. Goebbels

I just wonder whether those people who produced them some decades ago had any idea how accurate they would be …?

shabbat shalom and a magic weekend

  1. Hey Sweets,

to the first quote I can only say: You know how much I despise Goering and consorts but he had a point there and I agree with you about your Bush theory *eg*…

BUT Goebbels did not invent that quote! He stole it from Churchill! Churchill was the first to say that 😀 And it is also the favourite quotation of any statistician 😉

And I guess they did exactly know how accurate they were. Because they were cruel, cooly calculating men who did EXACTLY know what they did and why. It is just another story what they told their people to achieve their goal.

Sometimes I even wonder how much of a figurehead Hitler himself has been… I once had the questionable pleasure of trying to read his manifest. He didn’t even get one sentence really straight. I guess those other men took his basic ideas and used them for their own intentions.

So people out there, don’t get me wrong here: I AM NOT TRYING TO EXCUSE ANYTHING! I just think that Goering, Goebels, Himmler and some others were the REAL power back in those dark days…

    Bright Blessings,
    Ava’

  2. Its a bit more complicated….I nce asked in private a psychologist in private about Hitler…..and hit the JAckpot as this one read his manifest in his times of psy study….and in fact discussed with outhers in his studies over it…..

In his opinion,Hitler was in fact no figurehead….but a visionary and creative man…he did believe what he said and by this could make ppl to believe it also…the Problem waswith him what he also was a psychopathic maniac instead of a ethnik person. the Mixture combined with the rough unsecure times he lived in….leads to a very explosive Situation with most evil potentials.

Additionaly as he was so psycho….he would have failed if not where would have been these Powergreedy ppl what did exactly know what they do why and for what purpose….what used him to form a Government giving them the Power to fullfill their plan….Goering, Goebbels and others, I just quote this two names as they are already known.
These ppl was ruthless and Power greedy and intelligent….but without Hitler the visionary head….the mixture would have just been stinky….with him…it turns to a most dangerous explosive….and in fact….make *boom*

At last….as everytime one speaks about this time and the things what happend….especialy if its agerman speaking…..where is a feeling for a disclaimer (anyway some years ago such could just not been said by a german, no matter of having a disclaimer or not) so here will also be one….
All I Said is just a view on facts what happened by the facts and may not understood as any defense for any of the Persons mentioned, they did what they did and was in this way or another judged for it…I do not defend them hail them or agree them in any way but just talked about facts what exist.

PS: did you know what the german form of the word “hail” has a history back to the roots of the language itself but was virtualy removed out of the language after the “3rd reich” along with many other parts of german language and culture what was just utilized and abused by this Nemesis what came over us? J.R.R: Tolkien (British Academic and Author of Lord of the Rings) once said what he fears what no more again Poems can be written in german at all….ok they are but with this quote he’s right in one point….much things just was cut out since what days.
And again hes write as germans or also Austrians still feel the need of disclaimers and such or mentioning a Source of a quote as political incorrect and such if talking about some things.

  3. lil add…..the quote of the Statistics I know only as being referred to Churchill and also to Conrad Adenauer….but if Churchill also said it he said it first and most likely was quoted but not referred by Adenauer…what source you said i dont know about…but even if this was first source….is a truth a truth out of itself or out of the degree of political correctness of referring to this source?….beware Migdalit….we germans and even you austrians may not think in this way….you know…its political incorrect to do so *smiles*
